A while ago i wrote and article about how to Tether you Palm to your laptop so you can get internet access.

What I didn’t look into at the time was if it supports Windows Mobile Phones. Well yes it does and it makes life so much easier.

Why would you want to do this?

Well if you have High Speed access on your phone you can use your phone to get internet access on your laptop without having to purchase a seperate Broadband card from the cell phone companies.

You are now saving more money.

The application works with the following phones:
Treo 700w/700wx, Treo 750, Motorola Q, PPC/XV 6700, Samsung I730/I830, T-Mobile MDA, Cingular 8125.

Get it here:

Last month I wrote about Supra e-Key being available form all Windows Mobile based phones.

I called PWAoR for a customer on Wednesday and I have confirmed for all of you So Cal and possibly all California REALTORS that you can know have the Supra eKEY application loaded on your Windows Mobile Based PDA or Phone.

Why is this great?

Because it means for all of you who HATE Palms you can now switch to a Windows PDA or Windows Phone.

Does this mean that Windows PDA’s or Windows Phones are better?

Yes and No. Its a matter of opinion. I am a windows phone junkie. I have NEVER owned a palm since they came out some 10 odd years ago. I can’t stand the Palm interface and its just a personal preference.

Do I recommend a Windows Based Phone?

Yes. Windows based phones have come around in the Past 5 years and are very stable enough now to where i don’t want to throw it at the wall. And you can do MUCH more on a Windows based phone than you can do on a Palm.

One other Reason – Hosted Exchange syncs better than Windows PDA’s than with a Palm.

Last week I showed you google’s new app that gives access to your gmail account from any PDA type phone [...]

Last week I showed you google’s new app that gives access to your gmail account from any PDA type phone or smart phone. Link – Gmail on Phone

Now this new app in beta brings synchroization of your Gmail Calendar to your Palm or Windows based phone. With both of these products the world is on the verge of making a Hosted Exchange account un-necessary.

GooSync

GooSync is a free application to synch up your Google Calendar with your mobile device calendar? It’s actually a free service that acts like an Exchange Server for you calendar data only. You simply register for the GooSync service; once you’re all set up, your device will connect to the GooSync server and shoot your Google Calendar information right to your handheld’s calendar.

GooSync also supports phones from Nokia, SonyEricsson, Audiovox, Motorola and more.

Why is this something to pay attention to?

I recommend to all agents who want the ultimate email solution is to use a Hosted Exchange Solution. I will be covering this technology in the next few months.

BUT, with all the tools/apps for Gmail my suggestions could change. This is because you can actually get Gmail to manage the email for your domain. What do I mean? You can get google to host your email for you for free. Then once you have that you can check your email from your phone and sync your calendar. Soon I hope you will be able to sync your contacts. Once this happens you can get the same experience from a Hosted Exchange account but use google and save money.

We will cover more email solutions in the coming weeks.

Here is a neat little tool.

I have not tried it yet since I use Hosted Exchange.

From your phone browse to this address http://www.gmail.com/app

Now download the program for your phone.

My guess is that this will only work on phones with Java enabled

If you have a Palm Treo you will need to do the following.

go to the following link:
http://www.palm.com/us/support/downloads/
select your pphone, your service carrier, and then download the IBM
Java application (Java Virtual Machine), THEN download the Gmail applet.

Have Fun with it
Be daring and install it

This keyboard is great. I have ordered these for customers.

It is a small foldup keyboard that connects to your computer by bluetooth. You will of course have to have bluetooth in your laptop. This would be the perfect keyboard if you have a Motion Slate PC (non-convertiable TabletPC)

Many RE Agents have a Palm Treo but can’t get high speed internet on their laptop thru the Treo. Those of us who use Windows Mobile Cell Phones have been able to do this for a while and the Treo owners have been jealous.

Not anymore.

There is a program out there now that you can hook your Treo by USB to your laptop and then dial up the highspeed internet on your phones. Now Cingular and T-mobile is not high speed in my opinion but it counts as for what this software does. This software now also supports the Treo 700p from Verizon.

I have not tried this software myself but it looks very simple and should be easy for anyone to setup no matter what your technical expertise is.

The software is called – PDANet

You can get it here. It is not Freeware but the price is reasonable.
